I was heavily into them in 1990. ;)

the cover of unknown pleasures is one of my favourites. joy division gave peter saville the image - it was out of a turn of the century encyclopaedia, a sonic scan of the moon or something, i can't remember - they have the original reference at the Peter Saville show if it is still on in manchester?
That encyclopaedia must have been the inspiration behind the 1979 Alien graphics of the navigation interface when they are landing the ship as well, i thought that's where he'd got it from till i went to the PS show.

from what i've heard, that image on unknown pleasure are the waves signals sent out by a dying sun...
yeah, love those bowie albums.
joy division first called themselves after one of the tracks on there, warsaw...
joy division used to be the whore house in german concentration camps.

If you guys thought Joy Div was depressing try listening to Sense of Doubt on Heroes. Very, very dark indeed...

I like hipsters wearing joy division t-shirts better than the band. both however, require extensive amounts of drugs to be interesting while listening too.

Like the music, don't like the creepy Grim Reaper vocals.

They produced 2 of my top 5 favourite LPs of all time. I can still remember how shocked I was when IC died.
Interestingly enough, I was at the National Portrait Gallery in London yesterday, and there was a photo portrait of Peter Saville there!

joy division..just has that mystery that most bands these days dont have for shit....their music is timeless...truely one of the good bands.

Interesting project - covers done by fans.
And apparently Peter Hook's birthday is coming up. He would appreciate it if you'd remember it this year. He does so much for you kids - like driving you to the school dance, doing your laundry, sewing, taking you to your recitals...
