dude.. first of all you can get that Computer for alot less.
My friend just picked it up for 1499 referb.. you can get it for cheaper.
second.. Bump up the memory .. at a 512 chip and you should be fine.
Memory matters most if you want significant improvement of speed.
But ya.. you should be able to run flash decent...(for a mac)
The 17 inch screen is nice too.
for 2499 though man.. you can get the 20 inch iMac that thing Rules

Definitely, but you could purchase a G5 for that price and be way better off. Especially refurbished. Because, isn't the 20" iMac 2499, not the 17"? Either way, if you already have a nice monitor, or any monitor 17" or larger, get a G5

ps.
Base price for the 20 inch iMac is $2,199.00
you can get one nice system for 2499
one word of warning..buy your memory else where.. apple charges a heafty premium
you can save lots of money by buying it elsewhere

I'm going to assume that you're outside the US, because I'm hoping you're not about to pay $2500 for an iMac. That Mac is $1799US on apple's website and it's only $169 for a 3 year applecare plan.
If you max the ram out in that machine, it should run all those programs just fine. OS X also has a built in Apache server, so you shouldn't need to install it.

for that kind of cash i'd get a G5.
unless that is more expensive too.. you live in Norway or some other fucken expensive country?

MacMall is atrocious to deal with if anything ever goes wrong though. I'd check out another reseller. Or, if you're like 85% of Canadians you live near the american border (something like between 50 and 100 miles) so you can hop over and buy the box at a reseller, ask for a tax exempt form, as you are travelling internationally, then just don't declare it coming back across the border, bodabing, betty boop.
