2. I do visuals at clubs and know that japan has a vital scene of artists, so I wondered if someone could provide some tips for good house/d'nB-clubs to just visit, or maybe to play a gig at...

milk is the only one i can think of off the top of my head. its in Ebisu, the walls were designed by junko mizuno.

Definitely go to Yellow in Roppongi if you want to check out the main house scene there. Yellow tends to bring bunch of House DJs from around the world and is probably one of the most respected clubs in Tokyo. Once you're there, you can ask people for info on more underground scene in Tokyo.
