Any one here had this problem. WTF

It works ok on my mac which is way slower then yours...
- ganon0
you should repair permissions after an install....
- waynepixel0
it a bit odd. Dreamweaver MX run great.
- redson0
i got the same problem. I think it's just built bad.
- cosmo0
yup. Runs like shit on mine too. But has some pretty cool features, well looks like XP (which I hate).
- ********0
What's good and new in it then?
Should I upgrade?

It ran terrible on my Mac. I wont buy it because it's so slow it's useless to me. Look up 'Dreamweaver MX 2004 slow' on Google and you should find plenty of bad reviews.
Here are some that I saved:
I'm a bit disappointed that after all this time, Macromedia have produced something that is okay, but not great. If you add to that, the noticeable performance hit in Mac OSX, with snail's pace text editing, slow redraws and spinning beach balls, I'm afraid that the whole experience leaves me somewhat underwhelmed!
-----
Given Dreamweaver's slow degradation into interface bloat hell, poor execution on OS X (the interface is a shame) and slow text editor, GoLive just became my officially preferred product.
Trust me, it's just better.

I was skeptical of all the negative comments here so decided to try it for myself. This software has many problems. First and foremost is speed, or lack thereof, which makes this software completely unusable for me. It's *SO* slow that I honestly can't see how anyone who calls themselves a 'pro' can use this for web development. It would drive me crazy to watch screen redraws I could time my eggs to.The second and equally depressing problem is an exceptionally cluttered and randomly designed UI which leaves me speechless. What moron at MacroMedia thought it was a good idea to have this MASSIVE banner ad shaped pallet (called the Properties Inspector) taking up all that horizontal space on my screen? It can't be resized in a useful way yet it's the most important pallet in the program. It SUCKS!!!!! The rest of the UI is a total mess with poor demarcation between functions, the bizarrely conceived Insert Pallet, and many screen redraw issues, the list goes on and on.
Macromedia has become a classic example of a company that pushes software releases out the door because of profit and the need to appease investors rather than focusing on developing a product that employees and customers can be proud of. If you buy this you're a real marketing victim. More Info

I have dumped Dreamweaver completely and have gone back to BBEdit. I'm sick of wysiwyg editors. I can code all that by hand and its smooth. I suggest you DO NOT buy this software. If you want some cd coasters go to amazon.com or your local pier 1.

If it makes you feel any better GoLive CS runs like shit as well. I use it for layout and then do everything else in BBEdit.

What about on PC though? Is it still bad?
I had a demo once and the only thing that pissed me off was that you couldn't apply CSS styles through the CSS palette... odd.

Thats good to hear not just me then.
Thank
Good job I did not pay for it. Looks like Macromedia are turning into Quick.

you should try a few things first.
FIRST go get "Cache Out X" from macupdate.com run this, and make sure you click the padlock so it will clear out your systems cache
next go to the terminal and type in.
"SUDO update_prebinding -root / -force" without the quote marks. This will optimize your hard drive, most install programs will do this on PANTHER but not all. I run this once a month just for normal maintenance
then reboot and you should be running smoothly.

Hi All,We hear you! In fact, we're working hard on a patch right now I think you'll be very happy with. It answers many of the comments I found here. It will be coming out in several weeks since it's in the final veriification and testing phase. I know you'll be much much happier with the performance and stability of the product and we've taken time to gather and fix many bugs in CSS, and throughout the application.
Evan they admit this app is a HACKED shit peace of software.
- Bozilla0
works like a charm on PC, along with everything else.

works like a charm on my PC, not buggy at all. :)
- tfs__mag0
works fine on my 1ghz powerbook.
- BonSeff0
works fine n my g5
but i like dreamweaver 4 better still
- tfs__mag0
one of the reasons some things may be slow for you is due to the settings in your preferences. if you leave all the code hinting and that stuff on i think it tends to need a little more processing power and may slow things down a little... I've got all the auto-crap turned off (don't need it) and mine runs tip-top.
- benfal990
Its fluid like a waterfall on my PC equiped with WinXPpro, PIV 3.0ghz, 1gb ram...
And yeah you should upgrade to MX 2004, the CSS support is a need.
