Modern White American society , sometimes Mormon, but often Christian has a thing about "ritualizing" the entire hideous act of child abduction, abuse, and ultimately murder (a mass cultural sacrifice) This is evident in many cases (ie. Elizabeth Smart, Jon Benet Ramsey, Jessica Lynch...) This doesn't excuse the sadness we all feel in these cases, but certainly brings to surface some overwhelming focus on saving __________.
