Umm.. on your website it says you charge a subscription for your magazines.
You better pony up the doagh if you are taking some in.
If this was a free based magazine, I would understand. But if you are making money off this magazine, quit screwing the design community over with your cheapness man.

If you think you'll have the time between classes or smoking pot,
heh nice way to make friends

I have to agree with Don...
- Lop0
where the link is at?
it's not that hard come on
- cyberthug0
Look, take it or leave it. Trust me, they're not making ANY money. If you're not into it, just shut the fuck up, and take your anger elsewhere.
- Donvitoviti0
anger?
its more comman sense man.
Are you getting paid as the CD there? If so you should pay up for a design or shut the fuck up and take your rapist of an ad elsewhere
Take it or leave it.
- Donvitoviti0
I mean is the Creative director and all those people listed getting paid? Seriously.. if they are then there is a cash flow and what you just proposed is lame.
just leave NT please
- cyberthug0
Dude, this isn't about money! If you would actually take a moment to investigate you would see what a cool operation it is. Hey, I'm not fucking doing it because i'm not some spoiled rich kid who has the time to whine in public on NT. Whatever. Maybe if you had a clue, you'd realize that it could be a good PR opp. No, I'm not getting paid either (illustrations), but you can bet your ass when the issue comes out with my contributer photo that I'll send that copy to all my ad agency boys. Look, EVERYONE, they're not asking for the world... If no one is interested they will keep the crappy flash site they have. They will certainly give you an ad in the magazine and hella press. Why am I even trying to convince you? It's a great opp that I should just make time for myself. Nuff said.

I started work in 1993 as a magazine layout guy, and it has to be a labour of love.. especially independent rags.
free advertising is a pretty decent deal depending on circulation.
I dunno, no complaints about the post here.
- tara|gee0
im just sayin
- cyberthug0
THANK YOU, brundle. Can't get whupped for asking.
- Donvitoviti0
all im saying is, if there is a cash flow, dont be cheap.
I konw the argument about building up your portfolio etc. and getting in the door and i appriciate that aspect, but its people like you and the magazine.. no matter how good it is.... that cheapen our community.
You have no idea how many of you come out of the wood work trying to get freebies, then people think they can get cheap work from us, and then they tell their friends etc etc and then the people who make a living off of design end up working for pennies because there is always somebody out there working for a portfolio piece to drive down our price.
I know people who barely get by because of this. They have to underbid because a company with a product wont pay up because they pry on College students.
I love the fact that college students get probono work for PROBONO companies.
But probono work for cash flow companies is plain not cool, no matter how low the cash flow is.
If you dont make much money, then be straight up front by saying, we do not make much money as a start up but we can try and pay you at least minimum wage or anything at all.
Prying on people who need porfolio pieces as a company that has a product is why our industry is not what it could be.
- cyberthug0
This obviously isn't for you, so why are you going out of your way to be a scourge about it? We've all been burned, and I'm not a burner. It's other designers who cheapen the industry with their cheap ass design, not publications.
- Donvitoviti0
just because its not for me now doesnt mean it hasnt been a pain in the past.
And yes you ARE the burner.
Cheap design does cheapen the industry, but so do these probo things done for companies that are not probo.
you can argue all you want but in the end, it comes down to this magazine ripping off its own community
- tara|gee0
FYI
Face it. Any goob who knows how to draw a straight line in photoshop is a designer these days. Most people don't consciously know the difference and will always go for the less expensive option. Or maybe some of you out there ARE the less expensive option...

- Donvitoviti0
thats a whole differnt topic in itself.
But less expensive should not mean free.
- cyberthug0
How many times do I have to fucking say it? They're not making ANY MONEY. Do you know the meaning of a tear? Or an ad for that matter? Can you afford 5, 10k for a quarterpage ad anywhere? I'm saying this isn't for you, because you obviously aren't smart enough to recognize the possibilities. I'm done arguing with you. By the way, I like your site.
- Donvitoviti0
lol.. your funny
"btw, I like your site"
