Really nieve question:
I have a old school keyboard, a g3 running OS X 10.2, a lead running from the head phone jack of the keyboard to the microphone input on the computer.
Can record sound fine, but want setup the keyboard as a midi device to trigger sound in some sequenceing/sampling packages. I have searched for help for ages just come up with stuff that confused me. Need help with the 'Audio MIDI Setup' panel. Any help would really be appreciated. Cheers

have you found the updated drivers for your controller?
once you do that, yo go to the sequencer or whatever misterious soft you are using, and from the MIDI properties window you select your controller, it should be pretty easy actually :)

can I use my keyboard as the controller or do I have to buy a new piece of hardware?
Thanx for your help

Like I said on before..
You might need to search for the latest drivers fro your keyboard, that will answer your question.you need to be more specific on what model and brand is your keyboard, and what software are you using as a sequencer, without that, nobody will be able to help you..
:)

your not actually using the keyboard as a 'midi' device, because your running it thu the headphone jack bro
does your keyboard have a midi out? get a MIDI cord and get a USB midi soundcard (external?) with an MIDI input.
ie: http://www.portlandmusiccompany.…
(this is what i have)
Then it will come up in Reason and your soundcard will come with drivers (in os x the Audiophile has its own control panel)
then u will be actually using it as a MIDI trigger
