Is it okay to
a) Make a screensaver for a mobile phone
b) Take a pic of the phone while the screensaver is on
c) And use that pic for promo purposes for a client?Or are they going to chop my head (or the clients') into little pieces for using "their" mobile phone in "my" material?

ooooh....I'd say no

Cripes! I'd hate having to make a little phone just for this stupid thing : /
What if I get rid of the phone logo etc? Or resize / rearrange stuff on it so it looks different? Then it wouldn't be *just* their phone anymore.

I guess it depends on the amount of exposure the work's going to get. If it's going to be on 48 sheet billboards all over the world and the image effectively makes your client money, then, yes, they probably would come a looking for you.

i dunno you could do sexual favors for the guys at the phone company and i bet they'd let you use it.
- jox0
True, Blofeldt. Guess there's no way around this but asking for a permission.
Thanks.
Tfs: I just set you up with one of the department supervisors on the phone company. You're going to his chatéau for dinner and maybe some "aperitifs" afterwards. Think "slutty" when you're going through your wardrobe deciding what to wear. He won't settle for less.

hehe..
you phoneslut.

now jox.. the last time you said that exact same thing I showed up, and it was just you with a afro wig on, a fake moustache and your weenie tucked between your legs...
are you trying to trick me again you slut?
- tfs__mag0
hmm jox must be asleep... damn lazy swedes
- jox0
so WHAT if it was me - you found it pretty damn interesting and refreshing. So are you coming or not? This phone guy hates when man-tramps cancel with such short notice. He even got you a present! (or so I've heard)

use a stock photo of a phone and 'superimpose' the screensaver onto it through the magic of photoshop...
- Mimio0
No, just PS their name off the product.
- jox0
I can just do that Mim? Are you sure?
That's what I was hoping I could!
- instantok0
so long as you purchase the stock photo + the royalty situation is cool i would go that route rather than photoshopping a logo out or rearranging a personal photo...just because then you (and your client) can be more certain that your legal bases are covered

that's good... jox likes his boy-toys a little frightened, he gets turned on by it.

I see cell phones in advertisements all the time with the manufacturer's name removed. It's a common practice in the US.
