woah...
so I am told by a co-worker that there is was two emails sent to me... one with text and one with an image. I am to "combine the two". That is all he could tell me.
So I check the email, get the info and image. Set a size, make a call find out it's supposed to be a black & white flyer. Lay out the flyer, print proofs, nobody to sign off the job. Make a phone call and describe the flyer to my boss. Boss tells me to use my judgment and okay it myself.
I give it the okay. Send the files to prepress - they make a blue-line to show the pressman. Pre-press makes the black plate - hands it off to to the pressman, who is running the job as I type this.
Next it's trimmed, packed and shipped to Arco Arena for the Kings game tonight at 7:00pm.
wheeew.

i don't think there's anything anyone could have said to prepare me for the kind of deadlines that printers pull.

last week, some girl who works in a PR company calls me to my job, and asked me for how much i do a brochure for a photographer whos gonna hand them out next week in an exhibit and sent me the material.
i said how much (a lot, theyre rich) she said cool, she wanted to see a sketch THIS WEEK, i said no problem.
i was happy since my whole paycheeck went to my pc.
2 hours ago she called cancelling the job cause the printer is gonna take more than a week and they wont be ready for the exhibit.
thank god im lazy and was waiting for the last minute.

Don't let her cancel!!!
Find a printer that WILL do it.
