hey all
would much appreciate people to check this site out and let me know issues problems etc that can be fixed.
also just general comments/praise/derision would be more than appreciated

i like the pretty girls. :)
i can't look too deeply into it right now, as i need to get myself to bed sometime soon. but right off the bat, your nav is a little tough.
as a user, anything that requires me to guess where the buttons are is not very appealing. i'd fix that asap.

use png not jpgs, turn off smoothing on the images, they look a little jpggy at points.
the loader can be the same but perhaps smaller would look nicer, I think its a little big atm.
concept is nice.

logo top left....use png again the graphic is too small and breaking up with vector.

First of all, float the file in the middle of the screen with a background. Maybe a gradient.
Advertising 101: say it simply and say it big. I think the same way about navigation. Never hide it or play hide and seek. Although what you did was very clever. Even mouseovers of obvious text should become even more obvious when moused over. I like your pics. You're good at that I might choose a more interesting font or a more reductive font like eyechart. The loading animation could be smaller. Small = Smart for some reason. Overall, I'd say you're close to something good.

load times are harsh. I have a-d-d like most people who will be looking at your site.

zooming the hand to make it feel like i'm putting on a lens is bad. Idea is good, but the fact that you are zooming your bitmap so big, it doesn't look at all... lose it aro work with it. Don't like the loader at all, too big IMO. Font is uninteresting and doesn't suit, but thats just me.

hey all thanks fer the feedback
i hear you on the font thing but what can you do when its a corporate thing?
most of the images are png - like anything that moves etc etc but will get on the smoothing thing.
sadly have to stick with the "cool effects" thing as i've kind of sold it to the client and we are a bit far down the road on that one but i'm as disappointed as you are on the execution thing - probably should have tried video or something...
loaders.... well yeah they are a little big but they are a real "selling the logo back to the client" thing. they kind of wet themselves when i showed it to them the first time, comments of "yeah i like our logo big" were a common response
but otherwise thank you so much!!!
i'm wrestling with the navigation at the moment but the whole concept to the piece was a "real world expereince" thing to reflect the lifestyle of using contact lenses, plus its got this whole "groping around in the dark" feel to sort of emulate those people who wear glasses but go out without them so they don't look silly. anyway am working on a secondary navigation as we speak, as well as making the "help" menu more prominent
you guys are great and your criticism was entirely constructive and warranted!!! thank you muchly! - will return the favour anytime

The loaders look ok but they need more info, percent or kb of total to tell you what's going on. Pointless at the moment.
Not keen on the blue text over the images, I know it's their colour but it doesn't look right.
Image compression on the 'contacts survey' button is too high.
Text on the 'legals' section is too small (maybe it's ok with contact lenses), bump it up and add a scroller.

seriously my friend you need to make the navigation visible.

"seriously my friend you need to make the navigation visible.
francoisV"
why does the nav have to be visible? the idea is for people to explore, engage a little with the interface blah blah
am putting in a secondary navigation anyway...
thanks though
seriously :)

...because invisible nav is shit? At least do something to randomly highlight it after a few seconds.

TELL ME how long it is going to take to load - don't just give me a 'loading' movie that could take 5 seconds or 5 mins....

I highly recommend you read Steve Krug's Don't Make Me Think. Here's a sample chapter - http://www.stevekrug.com/chapter…
The load times are murder with a modem connection. I agree with the earlier comment about providing more info on the loading indicator. A 1mb download for the first part is a bit much.
It looks very nice though. The images look cool.
Later.

Here's another link you might find informative. I've always hated the name "mystery meat navigation" but he is dead right.
Usability should always be your first priority!

Where's the link SF? Mystery Meat? :)

damn, sorry bout that. it's late

have adjusted the load times as a a satrter and ther more i think about it the more i think you guys are sort of right about the navigation. it is a little time consuming, perhaps downright annoying, but i think that it fits the style of site it is. its not about information really as it is a minisite off a main site which is quite information heavy, so this site is more about experience etc.
But again i said you were right so am in the process of tweaking the existing nav and building a secondary navigation
