how do find a path so that you can copy it. example:
mycomputer/work/client/photos/im...
What is a quick way to get that path, copy and paste so I can email. (with out typing the whole path).
sorry if it is dumb question.

what program are you e-mailing it out of?
OS X is pretty 'drag n' drop' friendly. You can usually just drop the file in the program you're using.

Drag the file to a web browser and grab the path from the address bar. Doesn't work on every file type though.
But why?

I am aware of the draging functions, but when doing this, it will attach an actually file.
I just want a quick way to get the path...
but thanks for trying... oh, and I use mail(macs email).

This is funny, I would think mac would have built in a click on the file do a funky command something key press and there is your path.
huh? oh well...

Read my post, I just told you how to do it.

i did. I understand. thank you.
I still go back to my original feeling that, why wouldn't make build in a quick command for it..

open terminal window- drop file in it- copy text

You could drag the file into the Terminal window. That shows the path.

have you tried Apple-i (get info / or get properties in Win) on the file and get your path that way?
- ribit0
maybe use this?

Actually what are you trying to achieve in the end? Is someone accessing your computer remotely? There may be simpler ways than by sending a path to the other guy..

those are all good options.
to let you know, I am working off a network. So, my files are located on a central server. So if I want my co worker to work on a file. I just thought it would be a simple click, find the path and send him the location in an email. Some of the paths are long and I don't feel like typing them out... ahh laziness...
that is all. no big deal....

what if you just make a simple alias (cmd+drag) of the folder and send that to your co-workers? that's the quickest I can think off
