curiosity: when you see complex vector line tracings (esp. of mechanical objects) that are very detailed (ex:
)
Is this the work of a designer going in and hand tracing a high-rez photo with a pen tool? or is there some place these people are finding ready-made vectorized illustrations of mechanical (in this case: transportation) objects?thanks for your input!

depends. ive done both

i think in wwft's case they draw them with the pen tool, most people do, the 250,000 image bank has some gems in it though

yeah Ive done my share of tracings, but where could I possibly find pre-made vector tracings of that complexity?

get one of those image bank cd collections, for all the crap thats in there some vector gems also exist within otherwise get ta tracin!

automobiles start out as a vector template. these templates are later collected into volumes which will be sold to sign companies etc etc for vehicle wraps and whatnots.
there are templates for pretty much every sort of plane, train, car/truck and even buildings.
some folks use these and some folks don't.
