what do you think about this logo ? i was really expecting something better

Neither love or hate it. Feel the same about expectations though, should be better. We are going to see it everywhere for the next 3 years so it should be top notch.
They should have a competition on NT for a world cup logo. I'm sure the crowd here could muster up something less childish than that.
It looks like an M&M logo gone wrong...
(but I do like something about it, I think its the colours or something, it has a certain freshness...)
But its just not good enough, agreed...

I think it is overwhelmingly youth orientated. too much so. reduces the world cup to a teletubbie vibe

I think its a bit pants. Too childish, but many of the previous ones were. Such as the Mexico one.

I think they fucked up on the faces - since when was the world cup funny? They look like they're pissing themselves laughing which doesn't really fit with the event. There's also no reference to football which you'd think would be a fairly important element.

In 2006, the eyes of the world will be focused on Germany. But the official logo of the World Cup seems like an insult to many German designers. In the recent issue of form and here, we are presenting alternative logos of international designers, exclusive-ly designed for us. We would like to thank all who responded to our call for alternative logos.

Yeah dstlb its a bit childish, but an insult? nah. Some of those alternative logos are rubbish, theres maybe one or two possible contenders in there. So it couldve been much much worse.

Yeah I know, there's a couple of reasonable ones but most of them are awful, they look like they spent about 5 mins designing them. Pretty lame moaning about it and then not putting any effort into them.
