Ok this is my bro's site. He has an art degree and recent portfolio site. What positive criticism can i give him to help break him out of his 97-graduating-class design?

if you want to give him positive feedback, tell him you like his shirt.

er, tell him blue is a nice color.

yeah, this cat is heavily skilled at graph and characters illustrations.
he's just loosing it when he gets infront of a keyboard and mouse.

move away from the copy of photoshop tricks and tips

wow. well what is left to say? tell him that using the pantone matching system is a must. i think he's loosing it in front, behind, above and around the bevels. he needs structure.

why not just tell him it sucks donkey dicks and point him to what is good and bad on the web?
or tell him you will design his foilio site for him and let his artwork/pieces do the talking.

concentrate on what is working and develop from that. the main point is to find an aesthetic that responds to your message as well as the medium... this means font work, interactivity, composition, color and a consistency of sophistication and elegance.
