This is odd. I have a Flash file that I saved 'as' with another name. An image in it looks like crap in the newer file and looks fine in the older one. All the export and symbol properties are the same. If I copy the image again out of the old one into the new one again it still looks like crap. ???

if i had a dollor for every time a jpg import, or loadMovie of a jpg into flash caused me some completely weird, nonsensical problem, i would prolly be about 18.50 richer

have you glanced at your jpg quality settings in the publish settings window....
maybe by chance you lowered the quality setting
just one possible idea...

That's what my suggestion was going to be.

open the library, double click the JPG in the list there and uncheck 'use document default quality' and then set the document setting to whatever you want it to be.
that option does weird crap sometimes - but it's worth the hassle to have the ability to have different compression levels for different images

Thanks, the JPG quality in the export is 100%.
I don't know why the settings would change at all as I saved a file (that works fine) 'as' another name.
I'll try that though. Anyone else?

Have you tried re-saving the file to see if happens again?

Ill try that tomorrow too.

Post the .fla tomorrow, a fresh pair of eyes usually does the trick.

I seem to remember maybe having a similar issue ages ago. I think instead of saving 'as' I just did a copy and paste of the fla when it was closed. Worth a try anyway.

Thanks, Ill definetly try that too.

I tried 'save as' and copying and pasting. It works fine until I add one more frame on the movie and then the quality of the image changes to crap again. I also tried to add the other state I need in another scene with a stop() on the first frame of the first scene. It then still looks like crap in the first scene even though its the same as before theres just another scene added thats not even playing due to the first stop() action.
This is weird. Anyone know anything about this? I think I may be having problems with this PC anyway.

I had to do a work around with AS but I am still really curious why the image quality would degrade from adding another frame or scene. Anyone???
