With a huge database of any sort, you will need various sorts of meta-info in order to classify your products better.
With fonts - it works especially well - because there are sooo many that fall under the same general catagories - yet look completely different.
If you don't have a good way to catagorize your fonts... it feels like wading through the "used" section in a giant record store.

Actually, it does. Gorbie had some very good points.
You'd be surprised how many good designers out there that can't see the differene between Arial and Helvetica for instance.

How long do you think it takes to do 50 fonts- and hour?

The first font I did there was "Gill Sans Display Bold"
I know the inspiration/history behind that font - but classifying it in terms of an appropriate usage, time-frame, movement, attitude, culture, etc.....
...wasn't very easy.

i think if you want to do it precise i'd say at least 5 days for 50 fonts..
they could throw in some more fonts for that!
