Genitalia... hmm.. I like that. haha
There we go - now both my kids have names. Thanks :D

jox, I can understand a multinational multi-billion dollar corporation wanting there to be as little derivation from the brand that they have worked over 20 years to cultivate out in the world. Again, just because it is Microsoft doesn't make it any better.

"The kid was blatantly using the Microsoft name to further his business."
i beg to differ..but it's prolly US law.
if I'd register:
would they do the same thing to me?
In Dutch 'Mijkroosoft.com' sounds exactly like 'Microsoft.com' and what about other languages?
Flemish:
and i could go on and on..

and jox, the 'Paperclip' really is spyware.. from now on everyone who types a name similar to Microsoft in the new Word® can expect the Paperclip to 'phone home' and report it.
- jox0
No. *because* it's a multi-billion company - I don't get it. What harm could it possibly do?
If it was a 2-man company with a somewhat tricky name, then it would make sense to protect yourself to not lose any potential clients. It's so stupid. I bet it was all made up.

I have to agree with mrdob on this one. Why else would he choose "soft" for the name? Why not media or development, he's obviously not a software developer.

*plink plink*
HEY! It looks like you're writing a letter!
*plink plink*
May I suggest you change the black title to lime-green with a sharp drop shadow instead?

he was referring to the state of his jenny tellya with the soft part... had he been surfing porn when he came up with the domain it could have come out completely different.. mikeroweboner.com hhaha
- mrdobolina0
exactly, he blatantly used the microsoft name. and 4cy, if the pronunciations of any of the other domains you suggested were the same as microsoft, how would it be different?
- jox0
gabriel, of course HE wanted it to sound like Microsoft. What I don't get is why MS have an opinion about it at all. Don't they have better things to do?
They don't pick up their fucking phones on their tech support, but they can waste a huge amount of time on this shit. Fuckers!
- mrdobolina0
Jox, you call Microsoft tech support? wow.
- jox0
You have to if you want to activate your OS.
- gabriel_pc0
no you don't, you can activate via the interweb.
- mrdobolina0
just kidding jox.
Im hungry.

They're protecting their intellectual property in their industry. The kid was riffing off of their image by making a clear reference to their name. By all legal means microsoft could have taken the domain, and pursued damages. MS chose to make this good PR and played the gentle giant.
- jox0
Have some of my chicken salad, dob. You need to loose some too!
:P
- jox0
True dat, Mim.
I'm not arguing, but still - I just don't see why they bother to bring in lawyers and everything!
One can only imagine what would happen to the poor bastard who rips their site.
