pffeww...I just got an email that freaked me out. It is supposedly from FBI and said contents of my puter were confiscated as evidence for downloading MP3s (which I haven't done in at least 2 years!) and then said attached file includes list of all files...its a hotmail address but said "sender address masked to protect against mail bombs."

I usually don't fall for fake stuff like that but call it my innate fear of the law.

look its that easy: if you got an email from someone you never heard of, with content with doesnt make much sense or simply like "Hi, I'm Suann check this out!" then simply delete it.
It doesnt matter what extension the attachment has, if it comes from some stranger with a suspisicous email-address (like , but coming from usen-221x115x128x226.ap-US01.use... read faked email address, look at your email header), then simply dont open it. or at least dont touch the attachment.
I dont want to sound arrogant, but i cant believe that there are still people outthere who simply "doubleclick" (ie start) attachments. The mentioned .pif file is a program information file (but usually its just the extension, in reality its a simple exe file). Its a bad idea to touch this, es bad as everything like .exe, .bat or .scr
