Is there a way to add a dropshadow to a cell or entire table with css or do I need to use images? I would like this to work in as many browsers as possible.

not neccesarily..can;t say for sure because I don;t know how you are designing or coding your site..but you could do it as bg images, or positioned divs on lower z-index's

dropshadow is evil. Well, it's tacky, not really evil... You really NEED to add a dropshadow?

if you need dropshadows to save the legibility of the text - you've done something wrong.
