if ad requirements are "submit only TIFF-IT/P-1 or PostScript files" then should i save my .ai as a .eps?
- ldww0
or should i export it as a tif?
- rasko40
eps = encapsulated postcript
- rasko40
convert text to paths and save as eps, I'd probably supply a lo-res jpeg marked 'visual only' aswell.

EPS is encapsulated post-script.
I believe that they want a .ps file, whiuch is made with distiller. And the tIFF isnot a normal photoshop tiff, it's a very high-res you would have to outsourtce to print shop. Better off saving as a .ps file

soler is correct

i can not export as an eps because i have a psd file linked.
let me try the .ps thing.
thanks!

when you go to print it, instead of printing to the printer, select print to file in the print dialog box. that will create you postscript file
- ldww0
my distiller (5.0) only exports as pdf. not ps
- Soler0
You need Acrobat Distiller set up as a printer driver in Quark. Bring your Illy file into quark, if it has a PSD then flatten it anyway to make process faster. Select it as the printer and then save as a file. It will then be .ps

yeh. not the same thing.
you can make a .ps file from Illustrator though.
just make sure you get your page setup and document setup all matching the correct dimensions.
then in the print dialog box, choose "Output Options" the check the Save as File box and then choose .ps
then save it. that's all.

I beleive to do any of this though one would need a postscript printer driver which may be th eproblem...
- BonSeff0

why does a printer want you to convert your vector art to a bitmap? itsn't that a step down in quality?
- ldww0
