I'm starting a webhosting business very soon, we have found a spot for our servers and all that jazz, now I'm in the planning stages for setting up the "front end" of the business and figuring out how I'm going to market it best.
Just wondering, what do you all look for in a web host? Who do you host with now and why? What is MOST important when you picked a host?
We'll definetly remember everyone who helps out here! *wink* *nudge* *fingergun*

proper tech-support is huge
just a telephone number where somebody picks up and i can talk to you.. thats all i need..
and a good price point is important too..

Yes, solid tech support / customer service. A phone number is great, but in my experience I've found a message board is important as well. My host is very good at responding to posts and to support tickets.
As far as the technicals go, I'm sure just by looking at who you want to compete with and matching or beating their packes you'll be fine.
Oh, and keep your shizzat up to date. No PHP3!

PHP4/MySql
Anti-Spam software
When uploading PHP file, there is no need to add # ! /usr/local/bin/php on each file and no need to CHMOD. That's what Interland requires and that's why they suck (plus other reasons)
Alternate domains & sub domains with the same hosting package
Good control panel, like cPanel
Good web stat program, like Urchin
Fast server -- website loads fast everywhere
And, ummm, good customer service, of course
