I truly can't understand the government, and these other companies and everyone else complaining how MS is evil, that it has a monopoly and so on. Listen, everything that MS did from the start was smart moves. They built their empire in the era of IBM and other big companies. They managed to infiltrate 95% of computing environment with their operating systems and everything. And now, everybody is complaining when they put their own stuff in their own operating system. WTF, I admire Microsoft empire. Bill did it from the start, became a God and now everybody's complaining. There's no monopoly here, it's just that all these companies that complain and the government itself are without ideas. Nobody can tell me that there's no way that someone can't make an operating system that will be Win compatible and run all applications. Apple built a super duper OS which kicks ass and is a much better operating system then WIndows. Why can't someone else do the same for PC for example. Apple has it's own reason why they are not porting OSX to PC platform, it's about hardware, but it's very obvious, I would be the first in line to buy OSX for PC it was one out there. So, there's no monopoly, everything is possible.
Bottom line, it's easier to bitch and moan about somebody else's success, but when you have to think of something new, innovative and when you need to role up your sleeves then the successful become evil.
I totally support MS in all of these lawsuits and wish they would be even worse and do whatever they want on their systems.

yo bozilla, true people love to hate microsoft.
though they have made many many small companies go bust, continue to rip off great ideas or buy out great ideas and attempt to take over our home (x-box being their attempt, after many failures, in breaking into our living rooms).
microsoft needs more innovative geeks, not just hungry fat cats.

Because of Microsoft's complete and total arrogance most companies have lost tons of money due to either their illegal strong-arm tactics and because of the gaping holes in their software which they have repeatedly been unable to fix.
Do you realize that Microsoft makes money in only 4-5 of the sectors it's involved with?
It's completely buried companies who were making money in these sectors by pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into their version - and in the end they don't even make any money!
I don't see how any of that is admirable in any sense.
They have a long and detailed history of completely fucking over their business partners, competitors and their own damn customers.
They haven't an original thought in there thousands of heads.

What about apple having only their store in itunes? Is that not the same thing? you cant even surf to a different shop throught itunes.
people seem to forget that they have a choice, if you don;t like the way windows operates, get a mac or go linux.
and good point James, where would we be without MS... maybe further ahead, maybe further back, but they are there, they have brought us here, we have followed, now were shooting them in the back

I hate macs because they are shit.
I love macs because after they make something shit M$ steals it repackadges it fixes the annoying things that pissed me off and sell it to me for half the price.
I hate M$ because they are a huge corporation, and I'm just instinctively wary of that kind of power.
I love M$ because everything is soooo easy and accessible and standardised across the board because they are a huge corporation.
I love Linux because it is open source.
I hate linux because I am too scared to take windows off my computer, and that makes me feel like less of a man.

first off I am a mac user but do not fantasize about OS X or linux taking over anything- it will never happen. The fact is M$ is simply TOO big. Since OS X can if they wanted to be ported to Intel chips- Apples best bet would be to make a PC OS that is reliated to OS X but yet not exactly the same.
The choice arguement doesn't really hold true though with M$. They are a complete strong hold- they take over any form of technology simply because they "can" and capitalize on it. Sure this is good business practice but what makes it "evil" is the fact they do not offer much choice. IE will soon be embedded in the OS making it the one and only interent option by default. They take advantage of users with lincensing agreements and costs because they can. The whole OS deprives you of choice. The mac OS of course refers to it's own apps as well but doesn't agrue with you if you want to use another. The world's dependence on one OS is the scary part- one systemwide virus and the whole world can shut down almost. That is scary. Other countries are moving to Linux and the like because M$ gathers too much control of their governments. M$ doesn't open any doors for them. All their banking, government records, weapon information, ..etc. relies on one American man and his baby.M$ didn't become popular because it was any good (the being of Windows was more of a nightmare then it is now). They are in ever household in the world because you had no choice. M$ agreements with every computer company in the world made it what you got is what you get. Even now when linux is gaining in popularity and unix runs most system servers- M$ is out there doing what they can to make sure there is no competition. Apple commands their OS heavy by making it the only OS for their machines but the difference is- its one company batch of machines- your alternative is buying a PC instead- your PC alternative is two zillion company machines- one OS.

let's just put it this way:
- you are among the first to make OS to be used on computers
- you make billions and billions just evolving and properly marketing your system and idea.
- you become the largest corporation in the world with so much power that even you can't comprehend.
- YOU WOULD BE THE SAME AS BILLY BOY, if not even worse. If Apple had MS market position it would be totally the same. Just look how they made Mac platform exclusive. How many other Mac companies and Mac music stores you have out there. IT'S BUSINESS BOYS AND GIRLS. Capitalism.
It isn't true that MS is destroying companies. Those same companies sold themselves out. If you are really true to yourself and appreciate your work, know you're better then MS then stick to your shit and you will succeed. 99% of companies like that decide to sell out instead of fight. Who's fault is that?
