In Quark, you can double click on an image with the open hand tool and it will pop up a box with the name of that placed file.
Is there a way to do this in Illustrator? Went to the links palatte and double clicked on each of the placed art files. No dice. They don't have a name. Am I looking in the wrong place?
thanks.

What did you place, a PSD file?
Usually it where you looked...btu sometimes with a PSd you can place it, and you have the option of turning the layers into illustrator objects.
If you have done this, then the file is now IN illustrator and not linked anymore.
if that makes sense

depends. you can actually choose to either link or place it.

Someone else is handling this but I believe he said that none of the images were embedded. They are all linked EPS files.
???

oh and there's this tab (usually in the layer tool box) which says something like linked (only have the dutch version) there you have a list of your placed stuff.

Don't know about that..sorry. would have thought the EPS would have been integrated into illustrator rather than linked.

rabbitski ir right..if it's linked properly, it should be in the linked tab..next to your layers tab.
The full pathname, etc is in there if it is linked properly
