so i just had to replace the colour ink cartridge for the printer that came bundled with my new computer
it cost me $56 + tax
Damn it! why do we allow ourselves to be ripped so badly on this. They do it do us on everything that you NEED and continually replace.
For eg. razors blades cost like ten bucks for a three pack for some brands - WTF
yet you can go buy a DVD player now for $60.
The black ink cartridge for the printer cost close to 40$ + tax
but whats funny is the printer itself sells for $110.Next time I'm just going to buy a new printer instead of replacing the ink cartridges. And sell the printer for 20 bucks and I'll have saved money.
Fuck, its such an obvious rip off too when they claim that the two ink cartridges cost 80$ and sell the entire thing with two new cartridges for just $20 bucks more. They're screaming "we're ripping you so bad"
so what can we do as consumers - i need to print stuff
anyway /rant - it just burns me and i feel so useless to stop getting ripped off like a sucker

Add electronic toothbrush heads to your list.

Depending on the printer type, you can get some deals on e-bay for ink cartridges. I have a friend who has a canon (some printer or other) and gets the ink for $5 a cartridge on e-bay. But thats for a canon printer.

ya anything that you HAVE to frequently replace is always a total rip off
including golf balls which i've been know to lose
I also just bought a CD label printer and the entire kit which comes which 120 labels and the plastic stomper peice and the software costs 27$ and to buy a pack of replacement sheets with 100 labels it costs 24.99. So again you're better off buying the whole damn kti again - even though its uselesss having two stompers and multiple copys of the software

yeah, but the product is a loss leader that is the whole point... they could sell the printer for a lot more, still doesn't mean they would lower the price of the refills.

like a gamecube is less than the price of two games... ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?

Allow me to save you a butt-load of scratch:
They work great. Soooooo much cheaper. No complaints at all.

exactly, just go through someone who is not trying to re-coup the saving you made from buying a dirt cheap printer
