Howdy,
I'm upgrading my G4 to Panther from 10.2.6 and have 2 hard drives in it...
Can I just upgrade the startup disk & leave the other as-is? I'm trying to avoid backing up all of my working files.
Has anyone dealt with this lately?

I want to do a clean install on that drive, BTW (not an upgrade)...

if you have any external fw drives connected, beware. apparently, with the best intentions panther installs have destroyed some oxford 9-2-2 fw drives.

It works on external FW drives. I've put 10.2 on an ipod before and booted.

also, i've read that choosing the "archive and install" option when installing panther is the best way to avoid problems.

Thanks for the info - I'm aware of these other issues...
My main concern is if I'll be able to access a secondary 10.2 hard drive after updating the other to Panther (and if there are risks).

It'll work fine If they're on dfferent disks or partitions.

works fine. did it on one of my 3 previously existing pbook partitions yesterday. all other drives are present and correct
