Hello, I'm really new to all this DNS and everything. Does anyone have a link to information on nameservers.
For example, a file at where I am hosted is here:
www.myfriends.domain/mydir/file
if i configure the nameservers to my friend's domain's nameservers would my file be at
www.mynewlyregistered.domain/fil…...
?
Cheers!

no. first off, what you are looking to do is more of an apache/server side config. you use apache's mod_rewrite to handle that.
secondly, the only thing dns/bind does is translate ip addresses -> domain names.
there are advanced features you can do, but ultimately it serves to make xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx read as domain.com.
besides, i doubt very seriously if you have root access to your nameserver. unless you run your own dns and web servers at your house. these are changes that have to be made at the root/config level of bind.
