i need to get it restored to factory settings... like with no users at all...
can i do that by reinstalling the OS..?
i heard there's some 'erase and restore' thing...
any ideas..?

yeah well just do a clean install which will wipe everything.

to do the above, startup from the cd.
put the cd in and restart holding down the 'c' key and re-instal osx or whatever your running.

You could initialize the HD before you reinstall the OS. Start up from the OSX CD and when the installer thing pops up go to the file menu, it should say something like 'Disk First Aid' or 'Disk Utility'. If it's not there and you can see the CD it'll be on there somewhere.
If you want it really really new then in the options tick 'zero all data' to completely wipe the disk before you install.

yeah, good advice...
i had to do that just before xmas but be warned If you do tick 'zero all data' in disk setup/utility it can take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer! (and that can mean hours)

In addition to the OS install CD's, you should also have a set of CD's labelled 'Software Restore' which restores the iBook to the state in which it shipped to you.
