do the newer ipod headphones with the remote work with old 5gb ipods (the ones with the moving wheel?)
- nu0
I would think so, they are just the standard 1/8th headphone jack.
- unknown0
they should. all headphone jacks are universal.

yes
- rasko40
cool.. and the remote works?
- kpl0
nope. 3G iPods and the minis have their own kind of remote.
- unknown0
wtf is a 3G ipod? never seen those before.
- nu0
3rd generation. the ultra small ones with no moving buttons or scrolling parts.
- unknown0
any link for it?

I have a 2nd gen model (10G) and the remote works fine with it.
- rasko40
how do you tell a 1gen from a 2nd gen? - this one has the moving dial -1st gen???
cheers
- Duane0
Of course, now their site says the remote only works with the dock models. I bought mine when the remote first came out.
- Duane0
1st gen were 5G only.
- Duane0
Wait, I'm wrong. Moving wheel is first gen.
- nu0
1st gen - large, moving scroll wheel and clickable buttons.
2nd gen - large, non-moving scroll wheel and clickable buttons.
3rd gen - small, touch sensative scroll wheel and buttons.
Ipod Mini - smaller, and all touch sensative buttons and scroll wheel.

thansk nu, that pretty much covered everything except one small thing - do you have CAD blueprints for all models... in eps format?
heheh ;)

Want to build your own? HAHA.
The ipod is build from all off the shelf components so if your smart enough... well no i doubt you could build one.
But I do have some friends at apple. :P

YES.
I bought an extra pair with the remote. I am not sure why I paid $40 when I could a picked a nice pair from Sony for $10, though.

My remote from the 2 nd gen. worked fine with the 1st gen iPod.
I've seen it. For real.
