I just built a site in flash. Each section has external swfs. with updatable section. The only problem is if you are running AOL these external swf. do not update. Is there some type of code i can put in the main html that emptys the cache. help please http://killverona.com

It's not just aol. It's any browser that has cacheing enabled.
And no, I haven't found a solution

theres nothing no php,asp ...what do you do then?

I've tried many methods to prevent cacheing...expire on delivery, always using a dynamic URL, etc.
Couldn't get past it.

when the external swf changes, use unload movie instead of just loading another into its spot... maybe? worth a shot

nah being, that will simply remove the swf from the flash movie, not the data cache on a users comp

yeah..but my main concern is the textfeild that is driven by blogger.com and the MP3 player is xml driven

rson, you might find a work-around with the FCS (flash communication server)
I heard that works for simpelr data (text) but never tried it

"you can force the client pc to bypass the cache and download a fresh
copy of the file by appending the current date (and time if necessary)
to the name of the swf eg
myfile.swf?"date=24%2F09%2F2003
This seems like something i need...I wonder if i can change the ext. as well.....looks like its gonna be some time in the lab. Thanks for you help
