i have text in flash which is dynamic and links to and embedded font.
i preview it on my machine and it's ok.
Then when i upload and turn the font off to test it, it stuffs up.
here's how i do it.
myText.embedFonts = true;
myTextFormat.font = "myEmbedFont";
myText.setTextFormat(myTextForma...
myText.text = "hello";The text field is set to dynamic.
Am i doing this wrong.
I've searched everywhere and can't find the answers.
I though dynamic text ensured crispness.
dang.
I'm sure someone here can help.
cheers

if it's a pixel font it should look ok. if not it will always antialias.
You can make the _quality="LOW" for crispness but that will affect the whole movie...

Also, Flash has some problems with certain fonts. Apparantly it can't read all fonts for all outlines correctly and might screw them up.
We had a problem at a job once where we couldn't get a font to display right no matter what we did. Macromedia told us that'll happen from time to time.

yeah, this drove me nuts the first time it happened to me.
here's the word--your line of code:
myText.embedFonts = true;
isn't enough to embed the fonts.you actually need to create a blank dynamic text field somewhere off the viewable area of the stage and embed the fonts through the 'character' button, as you normally would.
you have to do this at least once for a movie even if you are dynamically creating the fonts.

oh sorry, it's the 'format' button on the properties bar, not 'character'

i'm going through the same thing right now with 'Axxell' from minifonts....no matter what i try , it still anti-alias....i've tried EVERYTHING!

it seems i can embed the font fine... i've worked that out. It's just even looking decent.
Now the only thing is the "o" and "b" letters which have holes in them normally are getting filled in.
This is crazy. i'm using a well known pixel font. 04B21
