also, scientifically, obese isn't just being fat. I have a friend that works for a fitness club, and technically, she is obese for her body height/weight/etc... She is 5'8" and about 130 pounds.
she has a great figure, but according to how her weight/height affects her bodily ability, she is technically obese.
Sidenote, she told the person who gave her the test to fuck off.

sorry about that:-)
i was being culturecentric... sorry to the really nice northern folk:-)

ummm i think the obese statistic is off.... the one i heard was that 2/3 of the population was overweight, (about 10-30 pounds over ideal weight). and that about 2/3's of the overweight people were obese (40 pounds +). still not good.... but on that note, i also seen a statistic that said the UK wasn only a percentage point or two behind us.

Philadelphia: most overweight city in America

"About 300,000 people died in the United States last year from obesity-related illnesses, which are also estimated to cost $117 billion (£73bn) in healthcare."
"But the powerful trade group, the Grocery Manufacturers of America, has members with sales adding up to $460bn and urges a Congres-sional panel on obesity not to blame America's health ailments on over-eating."

saw an interesting documentary about that yesterday. an interesting thing was, they showed these obesity trends per state from the 80's till now. in colorado nothing happened on obesity level. still very low. why?
