I have just started using paypal agian after a year of not doing transactions on my site. So I sold something for $15.00 and was slapped with a .74 cent fee.
maybe I'm wrong but wasn't it only like .43 cents (or so) like a year ago? Do I need to change my account status.
I've been doing some reading on paypalsucks.com but didn't find much, I know there are diffent accounts paypal will allow you to have but which one is the best?
sorry to post this on a design site but I'm sure many of you use paypal on your sites as well. any help would be great.

wow that is a Sh*t load...
I was thinking of using paypal to get paid for web work too.
I thought they only chraged 2.37% but .74cent out of $15.00 is like 13% right? sorry math is not strong point but I think I'm close.

eBay now own paypal, its a fucking scam really, a charge for this a charge for that, a charge to withdraw a charge to exchange currency, a charge to wipe your fucking ass!

hmmm, they never take out fees from transactions I make with my account that's hooked up with MIVA.

2.9% or 2.2% if you have merchant status. (to receive) it's quite reasonable i think, especially for small amounts. what's better?

you get what you pay for...use ccnow or something if you have such a problem with the fees.
guess it depends on how much you sell. i've heard xcart is pretty good too.

ccnow got like 9% fee I think of what you earn...

the ccnow advantage is that users don't have to sign up to their service. ie. if you use paypal and i want to buy your font or whatnot, i have to sign up with paypal and create and account blazay blazay blah

You were charged the standard rate. (2.9% + 0.30 USD)
(15.00 x 0.029) + 0.30 = 0.735 ~ 0.74.

if they're charging fees for when you get money through paypal, that's because you have a "professional" account with them. they snuck that in for all paypal users who were users before ebay bought them up i believe.
what you can do is cancel your account, take away the bank accounts and all. THEN create a new paypal account, but make it a "personal" account. it has all the benefits of the professional account, but no fee's whatsoever. the only thing is you cant accept credit card payments. which you dont really need anyway.
