could anybody recomend a good computer program for creating good mixes. i mean really for just making solid mix cds. i dont need any synth, sampler, realtime, etc... Just something for editing tracks with control over shit like fades, pitch, etc.. I guess something like protools maybe....
thanks

are there any programs out there for this kinda shit that more timeline based?

acid 4.0 from sonic foundry is timeline based and not real time. it has a thing called beatmapper that finds the bpm of the track so you can adjust tempo etc.
i use if for some mixes i do, its great. not really a dj tool as its not realtime beat matching, but you can create som e great, unique mixes

You might want to look into a program called cubase. I don't know how serious you want to get into music editing/producing, but here is a link to their site

Try MixMeister
http://www.mixmeister.comIts timeline based and basically allows you to import wav or mps files and edit fade in and pitch. Its pretty good for making a basic mix. You can export to a single audio file or have it seperate into individual tracks...

traktor is definitely the best in my opinion, you can mix, save the mix, re-mix and record or export to acid or whatever software in Wav format from cd audio, mp3... You can also mix live if you want to.

Ableton Live at http://www.ableton.com it enables you to import any samples and remix them with ease, controlling both their overal tempos and pitch. It works well specifically for LIVE DJ sets. !Muy Excellente!

Cubase.
acid is very good, but not to the level of cubase, protools, logic.

Traktor!
Cubase is not really a dj program *lol*

you can work traktor with one sound card. you need two if you want to preview the next track on your headphone. if you have one you can just preview/view the track on the visual timeline on the screen.

i think hes looking for a timeline based mixer, with a similar timeline to adobe premiere, where you can layout all your tracks on different channels. acid is the best, and only one for that
