How do I transform an object like in Photoshop where you can drag the handles to make the object into a perspective effect or an envelop effect [if ya know what I mean]
Cheers!

you can align on a path, to get your specified effect, and skew. but i know Ill. 10 has an actual envelop feature. that should work for you...
make sure your fonts are outlined before you send to print. printers don't like to figure out if your evelope has been outlined or is still text.

effect > distort & transform > free distort
envelop effect?

envelop transform, sorry ;d

wrong, wrong, wrong!
select an object, then click the free distort tool, hold shift-click a corner of the object and drag, then hold option-command, yay!
it's a pain, but cool when you get it.

turning objects 45 degrees first using the free distort makes the effect more 3 dimensional.....

suerbraten was right. It's kind of a pain in the ass, but that's how it works. You must hit the command/control key after you start moving the point.
as for envelope distort:
object>envelope distort (I think 10 and up, don't remember if 9 had it)It has many options, some that PS doesn't (i.e. 'make with top object').
