Mac Help!!!

There was a power cut last night and since then my mac won't start.
I press the power button, it lights momentarily but doesn't stay on.Does anybody know what could be wrong?

try starting up with ctrl, option P and R keys held down until you hear the reboot sound a few times....

Kick the tires, if they don't fall off then it's okay.

it's also suggested that you unplug the power cable from the power source for a few minutes.
That's what got my firewire ports working again.

apple's warranty won't cover spikes (at least, i don't think), so that's a problem. if its a big enough surge then it could be any number of things. if possible try grabbing components and swapping them out, i.e. video card etc.
happened to an NT machine i used to have but i found the problem. the loud pop and smoke coming from the motherboard sorta clued me in.
