what are my options here? i need to A. not use flash, or anything extremely complex, and B. load a 750k wav file when someone visits the index page.
not my artistic choice, just gotta follow orders...

oh yeah, and i HAVE used google. just checking to see what the true preference of the elite would be.

You could just embed an mp3, as wavs are huge, and some people might miss out..
Just embed in the same way you would a wav.

man... selling your soul to corporacy promoting bad web sense and longer download times.
it's a shame designers got to eat too huh.

just embed the sound in flash the very same way the NT jingle is. Who would ever find out - seriously?
Who gave you directions NOT to use flash, huh? WHO? Tell me! I'm going to feed him / her with extreme amounts of very old, out-of-date mayonaise that smells like grandpa's old feet - and believe me; Throwing up mayonaise with feet flavour is not all that fun. That'll teach him not to diss Flash in the future.

you could do it so many ways, whatever works for you. I mean it's kinda' silly to ask. Either embed .wav or .mp3 or .wma. or .mid depending.

I would advice you to sue flash...
Make a 1x1 pixel flash movie. Use an action like:
startMusic = function(){
music = new Sound();
music.loadSound("mymp3.mp3");
music.start();
music.onSoundComplete() = function(){
startMusic();
};
};
stop();Why? This will make your HTML page load completely without waiting for the sound to complete...

lol
I mean use...

the truth has spoken

so, if i imbed mp3, who misses out? does the browser have to recognize mp3?
- JazX0
well your user's system is going to open up that .mp3 in their default player, so using Flash to do it would be better than just putting src="someshit/someshit.mp3" get it?
- elwolverton0
totally get it.
the problem with me using Flash is that i'm doing this voluntarily for my church...who for security reasons only uploads what they build on their native machines...which are not capable of outputting flash right now. maybe if i build the flash part at home and take it there.
believe it or not, i don't know any flash--though i own it. suppose it'll take me long to do the music think in MX?
- phirschybar0
Agreed, Flash is the way to go.
- phirschybar0
Yep. Just use the code mentioned above for flash, make the .SWF (flash output file) and then bring it on in to your church.
- elwolverton0
alright, if i use that flash command mentioned above, and put it on a .swf...
how do i utilize it from my html page? what command?
- JazX0
I'm confused but it's not that difficult.
- elwolverton0
alright, so there was a code above that does the whole music part.
now that music is needed to play on the html page that i already have. how do i put the flash code IN the html document, *or* how do i reference the .swf in such a way that the music will play on the page.
sorry. i warned you; i'm ignorant! : )
- unfittoprint0
no command.
open Flash. open the Action panel. Copy/Paste the code. Change the mp3 name to your file's name. make the document as little as possible [ie: 1x1 pixel]. export it as flash6. use something like Dreamweaver to put the swf in the html file. voilá!
- elwolverton0
sweet. thanks for all the helpypoo...ill try it out now!
- JazX0
voilá! voilá! voilá!
