Do me a favor... answer these questions... if you have time

1.) How easy is it for you to do a great design?

2.) Does designing make you happy or do you often find it very exhausting because you have to push yourself too hard to get anywhere near were you want your piece to be?

3.) Is it necessary to be able to draw to be a designer?

4.) What are your goals? Do you want to be remembered as one of the great designers or is it just a job.

5.) Does superior work that you could never pull off make you cry?

6.) Do you get your emotions involved and maybe try to create art or do you just create whatever there is for you to create (grocerystore websites).

7.) Are you sometimes ashamed of your work or are you proud of what you accomplished even if you know it is mediocre.

8.) Are you an information junky? Do you think you have to know how to code, do motion design, 3d work..... understand math and physics ?

    9.)are you a perfectionist?

    whats your point?

You have to USE your emotional reactions to better yourself. At one time or another the best designers have doubted whether or not they were in the right field.

These questions seem to have more to do with self esteem than design.

Things dont happen over night. It can be frustrating to design as a job, but if you have confidence and enjoy yourself things will keep changing. and these things you listed will come and go. Youll probably change your stance on these things a few times too.

    1) Pretty easy. I know what great design is.

    2) It makes me happy - except in my "corporate job" when they ask me to put blue everywhere. *tomorrows my last day*

    3) Yes. Being able to transfer an idea/image from your head to paper is a must. How else are you going to design from scratch?

    4) My goal right now is to get as much experiance and learn as much from my peers/teachers as humanly possible in order to be a well known great designer. I want people to know my name.

    5) No... it makes me want to take it apart and learn from it.

    6) Emotions + try to create art.

    7) I'm ashamed. I only want people to see the best, so I usually trash the mediocre stuff. Although most of the time, mediocre stuff pays the bills.

    8) No. you don't have to know code. Thats what developers are for.

    9) YES!

    1.

Depends. Sometimes I can be very effective / creative and do tons of great things in one day. Other days I can do as much stuff, but everything sucks.

    2.

It makes me happy those days I like what I've done.

    3.

Well, I guess I'm not a designer then. I'm a sucky drawer. But I draw great cars! Hm.. that's about it.

    4.

My goals are to make money, sadly. I'd rather turn down a job that doesn't pay as much but is more fun, than a project I know I'll make more money doing but might consist of going through ugly pics. Yep, that's me..

    5.

No. There's always something superior. Always.

    6.

Whatever it is I'm supposed to do, unless it's something personal. If I'm upset I can just type FUCK 200 times and then edit it nicely. Strangely, it helps a bit.

    7.

I try not to be mediocre. I might even say I don't do anything mediocre at all, because if I don't like what I've, I throw it away instantly and start over. Despite the fact that it might have taken two weeks. (You wouldn't believe the amazing amount of shit I "haven't" done)

    8.

Kind of. I try to learn as much as I can, but unfortunately I'm always too busy so I tend to hand out things I'm not fully capable to do to people under me. I always say I should catch up on everything, but I don't have the time.

    9.

An extreme perfectionist. It's almost rediculous.
