disclaimer: i detest frontpage and we do not use it here.

we're pitching a client here for a large web job, their only prerequisite is that they can maintain the site in frontpage.

my question is.. didnt frontpage used to be really agressive and totally kill things imported into it?

if we make the site our own ways, would they be able to just open everything up in frontpage and do whatever they need to? or does frontpage still suck and destroy things?

    thanx

well it depends, front page can be okay and not fuck things up so long as they don't try to get all interactive with it and load the "front page extensions" that will add front-page-only scripts to the pages. Once that happens they will constantly have problems. But if they just want to open and edit in front page, i don't think it should kill it too bad. Besides, they can always pay you extra hours for coming back and fixing it for em! You may want to pitch them on using Dreamweaver or BBEdit though.

    sounds like a headache.

they are very gung-ho about us putting the site together in frontpage so that they can edit it.. but we basicly said there is no way we were even installing frontpage on our machines, nevermind using it.

ill try to sell the idea of getting them to use dreamweaver, but its an uphill battle.

its a new client too, so the "we can double bill them if they break it" rule cant come into play yet :(
