Hey all, doing a Christmas web site for my company, and I just realized after I got all the comps approved what a bitch it will be to build with a damn short deadline.
Anyone else get into that situation often?

Every single time.
They call me Rod at work, because I always make one for my own back

in these cases you should not think about making the perfect advanced site when you are laying out your concept.
instead you should think:
"how can i get the best results with as little effort as possible"
these sort of sites are extremely temporary anyway, it is simply not worth all that energy and stress.

how about thinking first about answering the brief?

Next time work backwards.
create a text treatment aof what the site needs to be when finished and apply that treatment to th actual development of the site. Use a tree diagram and think through the technologies used and how the site will be updated. Everything needs to be thought out and signed off on before you start creating any pixels.
It's easy to hear the concept, come up with a brilliant idea and start with photoshop, but it is ultimately your startegy that will make the site a success, or one that you get really bored with during implementation.
PS -i'm not telling you anything you don't already know, and yes I break this rule all the time.
merry christmas
