My friends just called me saying he had deleted a load of work by accident. So he has tried using that Norton thing to retreive his files, in which he had to restart his computer and go into the startup disk. Anyway that didnt work or something but he is now stuck on the startup disk area. How does he get his computer back to normal start up.If that makes any sense??.
Thanks

Dock > System Preferences > Startup Disk... then just select the system on the HD, not the Nortons CD.
There's a program called DiskWarrior that might get the files back if Norton can't: http://www.alsoft.com/
