architects make buldings... are you really convinced they are graphic designers as well?
- JamesEngage0
I think it is a great idea, especially for the kind of person it is targeted for.

"Is it LIKE clip art?
NO NO NO!"Ha ha, how about
YES YES YES,
IT'S EXACTLY THE BLOODY SAME!

If you had an idea for an little e-commerce sideline business, you could have a pretty decent logo, a pretty good off the shelf site and be up and running for about £500. I bet most of us wouldn't want such work intensive but cheap project in the first place so i don't think it's going to effect us.

this site probably took 1-2 people a month to make and they probably got 70k for it. i doubt they're hurting too bad.
- JamesEngage0
If there is not a market for it, it won't suceed... give the people what they want!

make that cash, that's my point. Anyway, whiptiee do....

what concerns me more is what the sites about.
More jobs taken away from designers
- JamesEngage0
I don't believe that... if someone came to you with 150 dollars for a logo, you'd tell them where to go.

I too think that this is a good idea. very interactive and tailored for a customer who can neither afford a design guru nor understand why he needs to pony top dollar for identity.

More jobs taken away from designers
True, but I think that ready made logo sites will attract elance-type clients that are looking for $25 logos.

SLICK ass site.
I just find it so hard to believe all the people who hate this stuff think it wuold be soooo easy to make something of the same quality...

Suggesting that this site will take work away from real designers is like suggesting the sale trailers takes away from the business of contractors who build houses.
Point is, the people who are going to use this service wouldn't be able to shell out the big bucks for a logo anyways.
Let's assume for a moment that a few of these people actually have *good* ideas, in which case this service may help them get their business going. In a few years, they have a dozen employees and enough green to hire a designer or two.
I don't see how this hurts the design industry at all... unless your target market happens to be people with $150 to spend on a logo.

I dont think its that designers are worried that a site like this is going to hurt the indudtry. just kinda shocking that they 2A would build a site for that type of business.
it's a whiz bang logosaurus

the concept is fine - if not good. it can easily succeed. but it probably won't with this site. there is no reason for this to be in flash. i commend them for trying, but if they really want this to work, the site design has to be a bit more practical. this is not good design, good design tries to maximize functionality. this doesn't

and if you feel like a giant library of clipart is going to take jobs away from you, then looks like you've got some extra motivation to become a better designer - courtesy of 2A.
and please....some people really need to take it easy, and not get so anxious over other designers' work. the only reason 2A is overrated is because the over-emotional negative response they get from people on this board. no one cares about bad design - people just forget. but for some reason this is not the case with 2A.
- tripleflux0
this is not good design...
Yes it is. For starters, the knuckleheads who are buying $150 logos will be wowed by the graphics of the site. It knows its audience very well. From the looks of the demo, it does the logo mix and match thing very well in Flash.
- dessalles0
i disagree...its poor design
well it ran very poorly on my computer. the animation was incredibly slow...slow enough to turn me away.
and i would make a safe bet that most small buisness owners don't have a machine as fast as mine.
a site should NEVER turn customers away because of presentation. only content should turn people away.
in this case i feel people will grow frustrated of the animations and leave.
if you think this is good design...then you either have a really really fast computer or a different definition of design.
- tripleflux0
ha, it runs fine for me...866mhz PIII laptop
- dessalles0
well then it looks like 2A have got some compatability issues to work on, because it seemed to me that i'm not the only one in this thread that reported it being slow.
eh...who cares
i'm hungry
out to lunch
take care tripleflux
