I'm going to Thailand and Vietnam over Christmas and I was wondering if anyone has been there.
Any things that "I must see" ?

I loved railey beach, just off Krabbi on the west coast, you can only get there by boat, so there are no cars/motorbikes there, it is a small pininsula about 1 mile wide with a beach on either side.
the bar on the beach is great, and the most amazing sunsets ever. If you like to chuff ask the barman to 'see the menu' and he will give you the menu with a nice surprise insde.
thailand is amazing, lucky you.

just try not to get valium/drunk out of your mind and believe you can ride that moped just fine, you will actually bounce off several parked cars, at least, thats what I did.

rasko4 is wrong, valium and liquor is what helps you ride motorbikes the best, no worries :)
how long are you going, what are you trying to do? beaches, hiking, relaxing, siteseeing? you didn't mention cambodia but angkor wat is amazing. there are a million relaxing beaches between thailand and vietnam, oh and if you're backpacking you'll probably need a lot less than you think you would.
