i am thinking about getting a new monitor soon. i current work mostly with broadcast animation for television using maya and ae. i would love the space savings of a lcd, but i am curious if i need the clarity of a crt. whachoo got and whachoo think?

if its for video, NTSC does it matter? You are really just eyeballing it anyways....
NTSC = Never the same colour
I use an apple laptop for lots of print jobs....as long as your going digitally then you can colour manage fine

CRT all the way.
LCD's are for Solitaire playing, MarthaStewart.com surfing, SUV driving housewives, and people who buy computers at Best Buy.

LCD aren't all just bad for you
Spending everyday in front of a 21 CRT death-ray canon gave me enourmous headaches.
Never had any problems with headaches after I switched to LCD

my 20" cinema display is great. better than those dell freebies.
apple cinema blacks are almost as good as a crt.

CRT all the way.
LCD refresh rates are not all that great. However in a few years LCD will be the way to go... I think.

LCD's have no refresh rates, they are constant, thus sans headache

you maybe are talking about redraw rates, which in some advanced gaming you might see tears in the animations, most digital cards will supply enough power to keep things smooth
