Did apple call anybody up about an extra warranty for the the IPOD. They just called me and asked if i wanted to purchase this thing. Im guessing its because of the battery thing.

And because they like money.
For the same price you can get replacement batteries from various third parties and do it yourself. Doityourself Kits seem to be priced from $49 to $59.

It's because your warranty is about to expire. Not because of the battery. They sometimes do this with thier machines as well.

did anyone happen to get the CompUSA warrenty on theirs. It covers "accidental" damage.

or they just like you, and called to see how you were doing.

same with the best buy one. i figured $30 for 3 years wasn't too bad. I returned my first one 3 days after i bought it... it was an open box that i guess was returned 3 times before i bought it.. just returned it and got a brand new one.. for $100 less than a new one:-)
still got another 2 years on the sucker... i'm hoping that they discontinue the 10gig one by then and i'll "drop" it and get a new one. Who knows.

I've only had my I pod for like a month now. I thought there was like a year long warranty on it.
