Stop being a nervous consumer.
So your computer broke, better that than losing an arm, catching a diease or being killed in your prime by some drunk arsehole driver.
You'll get the money.
You'll get a new computer.Carpe diem an' all that...

what are the symptoms when you try to boot up?
if anything, just take your harddrive out of your laptop and drop it in a g4 desktop or another laptop. i switched out a few HD's in my spare g4's. i know i've said this several times before, but you can make a very good amount of money on ebay with parts, even broken ones.
also, what are the specs, ahem, were the specs on the unit?
- piperboytoy0
Sad to say but that is the only computer I have and I depend on it to get work and to get money.
Also I just bought the computer in Sept. Dropped $4000 for it and now it's worth less then my shit. FUCK APPLE.
If I dont' get a replacement, I might as well not live.
so long

if they're both broken, wtf are you typing on right now?

hey ed, what have ya done to your laptop??!! noooooo!!!
damn, that's a big bad luck indeed... :/
get a pc man...cheaper, more efficient, cheapa, can be customised, cheapa, everyone loves pc, cheapa, i have a pc, cheapa, we have a pc, cheapa, it's a Personal Computer, they talk to ya (well soon future), cheapa, play hot online games, u can build your own pc (clone) and give it a name, no stupid brand name like 'pomme' and best for multimedia and etc media..c ya tomoz? dont kill yourself yet, need to view those fotos of yours..hehe :P, then we can go choke ourselves and smash our faces against any oncoming vehicles or people too..

I didn´t read the whole thread but why dont you just ask anybody of your friends or family with a liability insurance to "drop it" again for you. Then let the insurance pay.
(Or might this be illegal? Damn... then dont do it!...)

If you throw yourself out into rush hour traffic nothing will happen because rush hour traffic doesnt move.
Whats up Edvin? (Besides the computer probs)
laptops should come standard with force fields.

Since this is a appropriate subject. Does anyone know if computer insurance is available for portable machines? I'd like to insure my laptop against the same occurance.

Not entirely sure, but doesn't that fall under homeowners/renters insurance? usually covers anything inside your abode.

yeah, buy a second hand G4 (tower, not laptop!!) or a PC for the time being.. it is very dangerous to have a laptop as your sole computer, they are simply waaaay to vulnerable.. and yes especially the ultra-thin (looks over endurance it is for Apple.. >:( )..
i wish i could help ya, but right now....
anyway, keep yer chin up and find a good temporary solution to work with!
goodluck, piper, i know you can do it!
- piperboytoy0
Oh yeah, rush hour traffic doesn't move. Shit I can't even die!
nothing much been really busy with work, now I'm trying to get my clients to pay me so I can fix my computer. I might just buy an ibook and try to get that fix later.
BTW I'm using my roommate's computer. Otherwise I'll have to send smoke signals.

I like the G3 pb way better, it was so much sterdier. I don't know how many times I dropped it, still worked better than the G4 crap.
I am making my SWITCH TO PC NOW!!
- brandelec0
we GOT one!! haha
take that MAClol, im just kidding, dont look this way drama queens
- josimarX0
I dropped my old g3 once, on the corner and it died a few weeks later. I got a brand new 15" g4 through my house insurance – cost me £50 excess, that's all. So, if you're household contents are insured, you could have a new comp in about 2/3 weeks, easy.

yo edvin?! talk to me ! talk to me!! talk to meeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- piperboytoy0
thanks 4cy for your encouragement.
Mitsu, my book was working this morning, but the guy at the computer store tried to put the hinge back into place and must have snapped the wires, now it starts up but won't display anything.
I'm trying to connect it to my small tv in hopes that it might work.
I don't know if I can sell my computer, it's almost brand new, and I paid almost $4000 for it too. Only 3 months old.
It's a G4 Ti book 886 Mhz. 40gig HD with Combo drive.
- piperboytoy0
hey deeks.
i'll see you tomorrow. call me as I probably can't check my email.
i don't have home insurance so I'm fucked
- mitsu0
um... if 'the guy at the computer store' screwed up your display or even pinched one of the wires, i would think he is liable...
at any rate, your laptop is totally repairable. if anything, you could just connect it to a cinima display or regular vga monitor. i'm pretty sure apple sells vga converters.
there's nothing to be upset about here, just a tiny setback to make your life more interesting, right? :D
