why my image doesn't show up when i import a png and convert it to a MC symbol, when i test it nothing shows, but the png on its own does? thanks in advance.

try importing it again as a single flattened bitmap.
that might make you lose your transparency tho. i duno.

thanks man, i do need transparency though, anyone else?
- chinaman0
please help, really need to know, thanks again.

If you have access to fireworks or photoshop which I guess you will.
What you want to do is export out the .png file with transparency while exporting the image from your choosen image application.
Then just import into flash and all should be fine, flash works well with .png as macromedia have been pushing the format.
Any problems scream

forget what I have written i didn't read your post right, bollox
Sounds odd to me

why not make it a .gif or .jpg and then import it in and then play with it. I don't know what you mean?

i imported a png with transparency, put it in a movie cip and it just doesn't show up when i test it. but if i just put it on stage as it is, not in a mc, it shows up.

why not convert it to .gif or .jpg in Photoshop and then import it into Flash and then make it an object and then put an Alpha Fade on it internally?
- chinaman0
i'll try that sir, cheers

good luck ;)

Everyone seems to be leaping on the transparency issue... that's not the issue. The issue is that the image doesnt show up. Period. Transparent or not.
It sounds to me like you either have a dud install of Flash, a dud Flashplayer.... or you're doing something fundamentally wrong when you turn the png into a movieclip.
How proficent are you with Flash? Do you know what you're doing? When you out the png image in a movieclip... is the movieclip even on the stage? Is it on the stage, and positioned on the timeline approriately? You don't have a stop command before it gets to it or something?
Damn I hate Flash.

hey, i just went into the movie clip, and broke apart the image, and it worked? strange. thanks for the effort chaps, appreciated.

Ha... it's one of those damn annoying Flash quirks we stumble accross from time to time.
Flash is shit. Sorry, but it is. So many work-arounds for so many things. I love it, but I hate it.

ha!
had exactly the same problems on friday at work - with exactly the same result when I broke apart the image - crazy...
