is anyone else here a horrible perfectionist, meaning, you have to get one thing exactly right before you can go to the next. and you end up procrastinating until its due? my proj is due wed and all i have done is the intro, but it looks damn good, i think.

you just perfectly described my current (unproductive) approach to a site that i am building that needs to get done asap, but one that i want to look good and be a good port piece
*i am my worst enemy usually*
thanks for saying what i was too embarrassed to admit (until now)
;)

i was when i was a student.
the best thing to do is design in "passes". on each succcessive pass, you enhance the project.. but, you always have a full version to full back on. this works well when you are freelancing on a project when you are brought in to save someones ass at the last minute.
you cant survive otherwise, you will be one of those 25 year old burnouts that thinks every project is a portfolio piece. and even though you arent happy with the piece, chencea are. the client will think its the greatest thing they have ever seen.
just dont be smug.... thats why alot of clients dont like dealing directly with creatives.

you should always be as detailed arientated as you can in the time you have, but remember that you only have so much time.
my boss is the worst for it, he knocks out rubbish then when he sees my stuff he's a right cunt on every tiny thing, picking up little stupid things that aren't necessary.. I think its his little power rtip, I just think hes a cunt basically.
I'm quite good at just cutting things off and thinking, you pay x, you get x. or just realising that the little things you see go unnoticed by most.

I've got it worse. I have no deadline, and I can't get started. mainly due to perfectionism. I did a great little site as a stop gap, I have to improve it greatly (so I can cash in) and can't get to first base. I don't get paid unless I do something and its STILL not motivation enuff. God. I should go back to painting. Or working at the airport.

yeah that's a problem. I tend to do the same thing with work in general though.
