We bought a grapphire tablet for a web designer last year and it was totally uneventful....:(
get a isight cam, or a kirk mousepad, or a USB memory keychain hard drive thingy.

a software upgrade from whatever he/she is using now.

i dont know about "web designer" gifts because ive found the web designers i work with have very different personalities..
on my christmas list is... the new rustboy book http://www.rustboybook.com/.
maybe some stuff from potty barn for my house. www.potterybarn.com. my mom is getting me a chair from there.
if shes a girl.. anthopologie http://www.anthropologie.com is an awesome store.. or the cheaper.. younge version urbn.com..
im also asking for a weekend at a bed and breakfast in santa barbara so i can relax. thats sort of an enguagement gift too.
i like snoboarding. maybe this web designer is too.. maybe some lift tickets or gift card to your local mountain would be appreciated.
i want new goggles and board bag from http://www.burton.com and a half snowboard rack for my http://ford.com truck
i want another kitty. or a small dog.
some new boots from http://aldo.com aldo.
I don't know... web designers like lots of different things besides work.. no? i mean.. you run out of .. web design accesries toget someone.
if the person your shopping for is real special... get them a sony pallet monitor for some dual monitor action.. or get them a big ass monitor so they can use their tired small one for a pallet monitor.

i started some holiday work at pottery barn a couple days ago and now i feel bad about buying gifts from there. Every bit of it is made in taiwan or china or something.. i'm not against the countries, i just feel bad that we're all so used to having our cheap prices on products just cause someone was paid 5 cents an hour to make it. I think i'll build shit for my family this year.. maybe make some tables or something.

Thank you everyone for all your help! I was think more of gifts that a web designer can use for work but all your suggestions have been very useful. How does one create a pallet monitor anyway?
