frat guys with tribal tats around their arms. Make me ashamed to even have any tattoos.
- tfs__mag0
well, the two tats i have now are an obey giant star on the back of my arm and on my chest i have two sparrows carrying a banner that says "audentes fortuna juvat" (fortune favors the bold). I'd consider alot of different styles, except those frat boy tribal deals.... i want to try to stay away from cliche or overdone styles (oriental writing, tribal, etc.). i'm probably being too vague. I'm really into the artwork of guys like andy howell and dave kinsey and thought it would be cool to get some of their work done...

what styles are you into?

well, price isn't the issue... i trust my buddy to do a good job. he does it for a living so it's not like he's some back alley tattoo artist with a home-made gun. I wish he had some work on line i could show you.
i'm at home today sick so i'll be able to look around a bit more. hopefully i can find something that catches my eye!

definetly my favorite tat artist. I hope to get some ink done by this guy some day.

that's too funny. serious black. good name though. as a matter of fact good tattoo artists make their own colours and don't use ready made stuff. even within screenprinting it's better to make your own special black. maybe i'm gonna copy that name offa him. normally i make up names like gay bikers black or something like that.

the black used on my leg is a special mix of japanese outlining ink and american tribal ink - lablelled on the bottle my tattoo artist as 'Serious Black' (it's a mix he does himself for tribal style work). There is no way this is going to fade quickly, plus I have milky white legs so contrasts against my skin quite nicely!

well black is the last colour to fade away over years. lighter colours like yellow, blue etc. fade away a lot faster. so if you have no or too subtle black shading you know you have to go back over it pretty fast. heavy shading or pure black stix on a lot longer. that's why oldskool tattoos still look good. lots of heavy shading.

thanks rabattski.
you are right too, i hate it when people ask me how much it cost - it doesn't matter as long as it is done well. Gonna be with me forever so HAS to be done well.

nice! not my cup o' tea indeed or something i would have inked but like it nonetheless. pure black is gonna stay for life that's fer sure.

i'm sure you have been told this a dozen of times but price should never be a criteria. seriously. divide the amount spend by the amount of years you're going to be around and it'll always be low as hell. know what i mean?
- Nev0
i just had mine finished on my leg - not everyone's cup of tea - but that's what makes us all different I suppose. I like it and that's what matters!
Anyway, if you want to check it out - http://www.tattoohouse.com/Dave/…

rabattski, i had one of my tattoos done at a convention they had here in central illinois here about a year or so ago. I actually have a friend that is pretty good at it around here though that does it at a good price. but i know what you mean about going to the conventions and checking out portfolios.

nice link (mike giant one). i've seen his work. the good stuff.
there's another thing you can do. find out where and when the nearest tattoo convention is going to be. those conventions can be annoying but you can look at a lot of portfolios. it's also a good way to get tattooed by someone who you would normally not go to (e.g. too far) then again most of the time you have to book such apps in advance.
