What is "trapping"?
Something that was always thrown around in conversation, but ive never fully understood it?
Anyone mind giving me the short version?

it's a pain in the ass is what it is.

it refers to differant colors touching - and if you overprint, butt the two together, etc.
I wouldn't worry about it though - Ihaven't used trapping since College - make your printer do it.

a good printer will take care of it for you, you should ask prior to utilizing a printer

Are you print designers out there doing the trapping yourselfs before you submit?

NO - I always let my printer do it - if I did prepress on a job - I would charge my client double.
Or hire a Production Assistant.

adobe make s 'guide to printing' that they bundle with most of their print related software...it's about 40 pages and explains everything in a pretty basic way... worth a read.
